A flat sheet gasket is a versatile sealing material cut from non-metallic or semi-metallic sheet materials, used widely in low to medium pressure and temperature applications. These gaskets are typically made from materials such as compressed non-asbestos fiber (CNAF), rubber, graphite, PTFE, or a combination of fibers and binders, depending on the application's chemical and thermal requirements. Flat sheet gaskets are commonly used in industries like water treatment, HVAC, chemical processing, food and beverage, and general manufacturing to seal flanged joints, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers. They are particularly suitable for sealing against gases, oils, steam, water, and mild chemicals. These gaskets are cut into custom shapes and sizes, including full-face and ring types, and can be tailored to fit standard flanges. While not suitable for extreme pressure or temperature environments like spiral wound or ring gaskets, flat sheet gaskets offer a cost-effective, easy-to-install solution for general-purpose sealing needs where flexibility, compressibility, and chemical resistance are important.
